I initially lost about 340 users out of my 5,000ish users because of these issues, and I had to recover some by nudging them with notifications. It was a big pain, and I felt bad that I lost this many users to small and easy fixes. So I built Rejourney to predict that before it happens. Here is how it works:First, the SDK is installed on Web JS, Swift, or React Native apps. You then help the SDK a little with a few lines of tracking important events -- such as a subscription bought, a signup completed, etc -- before you ship the app. We called these “critical conversion events”.From here, Rejourney records the user session along with the meta data you set up, and relates it to the sequence of the user journey, each touch&#x2F;scroll&#x2F;pan interaction, and rage taps. If deemed an issue, it bundles in API response times and codes, ANRS, and crash traces into the context.A heuristic then bundles all the user recordings into similarity cohorts for processing, and finds similar user journeys and outcomes in relation to the critical conversion actions that matter to you. If a trend is found that is possibly worrying, it admits the user recordings into segmentation and processing by an LLM on our back (in this case Gemini for cost and speed, but it has been tested on GPT 5.5 if you decide to self-host and set this up on your side).If the LLM views similarities in the touch sequence frame by frame, it can determine whether the cohort is likely to present a negative outlook on the critical conversion event that matters to you. Based on the replays and all the surrounding context, it outputs a .MD file with the context and the fix that would patch it (which you can copy into your coding agent). Optionally, you can attach your github repo so the .MD file includes a code fix with the detected issue.Furthermore, this occurs at the scale of thousands of user recordings daily. We have seen how this works on a medium-scale, as Rejourney has been tested with about 2.5 million user recordings from people shipping the SDK. One of our users even emailed us reporting a 30% increase in onboarding after 2 weeks of fixing non-stop issues found.We have made it soooo cost effective to run with different strategies, that our first 3 paid users made us break even on costs…and this means more compute space for cool things later :DOther considerations and criteria: Privacy was also very very important as we have to consider GDPR, after the retention period (usually 7-days) we quantize all the user recordings, anonymize all the fingerprints and aggregate them into a general dashboard (similar to Firebase’s general analytics dashboard).I’d love to hear your feedback, critics, and requests in the comments! I have 4 years of experience working with React, Next.js, and Node.js.Other than that, I have also done some work with React Native and Three.js.My last contract ended about 3 months ago, and I have been trying to find new work since then. I started with LinkedIn, then reached out through my network, HN threads, Wellfound, Reddit, and other platforms.I also tried reaching out directly to startup founders building things in areas I like, such as worldbuilding and writing-related products. But many of them are also early-stage and do not seem to have much funding or hiring capacity right now.At the moment, I can find around 6–8 jobs per week, but it is not moving forward. I am not based in the US, which is another hurdle.I am open to learning new things. I have also done some work and courses around LLMs and RAG, so I would be open to working in that area too.I’m wondering if I should continue with React&#x2F;Next.js and keep applying, or if it makes sense to switch to another stack.Has anyone been in a similar situation? I have been trying platforms such as Work at a Startup, Wellfound, LinkedIn, and other job boards, but not much of remote hiring(outside US). I&#x27;ve been running Simpluna, a period-tracking app, for six years. It&#x27;s a company based in Tokyo, Japan, but development and operations are basically a one-person effort. The app is built with React Native (Expo).The defining trait of the app is that it&#x27;s simple, with no unnecessary features. Recording periods, calculating predictions, and sending notifications — that&#x27;s the core of it. This space is dominated by big players (Flo, Clue, and in Japan, Luna Luna). Building something similar would have been hopeless, so I made the things those apps don&#x27;t have my selling point.Optional features beyond the basics are offered as one-time purchases. Most apps in this space use subscriptions, but I didn&#x27;t want to. Subscriptions make revenue easier, but they&#x27;re a mechanism that keeps manufacturing reasons not to cancel, and features keep piling up as a result. By staying away from subscriptions, I could keep the app simple — a tool that doesn&#x27;t intrude on the user&#x27;s life.With privacy in mind, data is stored locally on the device by default rather than in the cloud.So far, the app has found a solid footing in East Asia — Japan, Korea, Taiwan, and China. It has almost no name recognition in the West or elsewhere, but there is a small number of users in those regions who like it and keep using it.The reality, though: the app is profitable and covers its running costs, but it&#x27;s not yet at a level that supports a living, so I have no choice but to keep it going alongside other work. I see this as one of the costs of not taking the subscription route.I have two questions. How do you see the difficulty of sustaining an app on one-time purchases alone?
