Shopify is moving from React Native back to Swift and Kotlin

Really confused between React Native and Flutter. I’ve mostly worked with Flutter and a little bit with React Native, but that was quite a while back, so I’m not sure how things stand today.I’m building a project with a Node.js + tRPC backend, so React Native is looking really tempting cause of that Typescript. While researching I've seen mixed reviews about performance in React Native like people saying they've spend weeks finding and managing performance issue which does makes me worry. The app I wanna build doesn't have complex canvas work or crazy animations. For a typical production app, what’s the performance situation with React Native vs Flutter now? Are there any major concerns which I should know before looking in React Native?

Hey everyone! I'm just trying to share the app I made that launched this past Saturday on Google Play and the App Store. I work in non-profit and have an MFA in Screenwriting. Despite all this unrelated experience I was able to take an idea I've had in my head for about 4 years and bring it to life in 90 days with the help of Codex and Claude. I hadn't touched anything related to coding since probably the Myspace days and that definitely doesn't count.About the app: Viamour is a new app for finding friends, groups, local events, and curated experiences nearby. It’s not a dating app, and the goal isn’t to keep you endlessly swiping. It’s to help you actually meet people and build community offline. My Stack: Codex, Claude, React Native, Supabase, Resend, AdMob, Revenue Cat, Stripe.I would love an feedback and maybe to help spread the word since there's the whole "cold start" problem. I would be happy for anyone that checks it out.I got my first 50 users over the weekend, wish me luck!

Universal Video Uploader is an open source React/React Native component library for adding video upload flows to your app. It handles the UX and background mechanics for single or multi-video upload flows: upload state, file queue, concurrency, per-file progress, abort/retry, validation, and backend communication for async processing. It comes with a composable and customizable UI, or you can go headless and use the core hooks to build your own. You can connect it to any backend via the adapter interface, and it ships with a prebuilt adapter for Hyperserve (a video backend API I built).I've had to build this kind of thing a few times and it's more complex than it seems, I wanted to try making something drop in that is still flexible and comprehensive. I'm currently using it as the dashboard uploader for Hyperserve and so far it's working great.Try it at https://videouploader.fyi. There's full docs with live demos for every component, plus working Next.js and Expo examples you can run. I'd appreciate any feedback on it if you have any!

TLDR version: ProgressCove, my calm, multiplatform task manager that has a glass half-full perspective, avoids red texts and past due anxiety as it only leads to procrastination.I talk about:
- Brief origin story: How I started writing middleware for another to-do app project status display for Echo Show screen and didn't stop there.
- Backend architecture choices: Network segmentation, frameworks and sustainability as a solo dev.
- App stack: Expo React Native, WatermelonDB offline first storage with online sync, Cloudflare workers to serve web app, Python FastAPI, PostgreSQL/PgBouncer
- AI coding without the slop: How I use Claude as my junior developer under strict technical oversight.
- Smart task prioritization: Task and project ordering by a combo metric based on completion percentages, helping users focus on tasks closer to completion and a U-shaped task age decay to surface new items instantly, drop mid-aged tasks, and eventually float old backlog projects.
- Smart Home: Home Assistant integration, chores as buttons that dim/highlight based on due status for wall tablets with 10 second debounce window to avoid mistaps.
- Soup Mode: Recurring tasks with variations (useful for rotating meals, movies or workout routines) that will randomize your next task.
- Advanced options: Keeping things simple and clean for anyone with anxiety and providing secret power user options, such as 8 level deep nesting and ability to name your task tiers, where a project can be a donkey!Anyone can try out the full-featured, no card required trial for 14 days. All versions, including web app can be found at https://progresscove.comFull story in first reply

Sealr is an end-to-end encrypted messenger built on React Native and Firebase. It gives senders absolute post-send control by attaching cryptographic rules (views, expiry, geo-fencing) to each message. We use AES-256-GCM and RSA-OAEP-2048, enforcing permissions via Firestore rules without the server ever reading the content and without any plain-text and media ever being stored on the local device. Screen capture and mirroring is blocked at the OS level.

The kind who ships a working prototype over the weekend and can't help themselves • Comfortable owning 0 to 1 consumer products end-to-end • Allergic to politics, theater, and bureaucracyWhat you get: • Remote, anywhere with reasonable timezone overlap (and for someone truly exceptional, we'll make async work) • Real scale from day one (20M+ users, real money, real consequences) • Compensation that beats the market. The stuff that compounds when you're showing up engaged for years, not months • Profitable for 4+ years, so you build with conviction, not runway anxietyStack: python, claude, postgres, react.js /react nativeIf this is you, email us at recruiting@albert.comAlso, we carefully review every application.
