Build Voice AI Apps with NextJS and WebRTC

Hi folks,
I am a frontend software engineer (reactjs, nextjs) and have been working on python for AI related stuff for quite a few years.
I am wondering if creating something like nextjs but use Django as backend could be a bad&#x2F;terrible idea or a good idea. What do you think? Thanks.Here are the reasons behind this idea:1. React (Nextjs) is wonderful for frontend while pythong works perfect for machine learning (at backend).2. To demo or dev machine learning or AI related stuff we need some easy to start front-end framework. I have tried gradio but still wish the frontend could be replaced by reactjs.3. Hey everyone.I wanted to share a sideproject I was working on for a while now: A drop-in replacement for mkdocs-material in nextjs.I had that in the back of my head for about 2 years now and finally pulled the trigger earlier this year with a crude prototype. I somehow kept going at it and magicly it reached a state where I feel (almost? - but will it ever be?) comfortable to share it to others as well (by far not feature-complete though).A bit about myself: I am not considering myself a nextjs pro, I just like the ecosystem somehow and grew into it by trial and error over the years. I have a large site built in mkdocs-material. I really like the style of mkdocs-material and how easy it is to start with something decently looking, however I always wanted to add more dynamic elements like member areas etc, which is a pain doing through the static website. With nextjs it isn&#x27;t much of a problem.I came in late to Nextjs and I can barely keep up with the releases, but somehow, with a bit of help from aider and some common sense, I got something working I feel is ok. Of course, if you are a nextjs pro and feel like I&#x27;m doing it all wrong, please let me know. Help, criticism, PRs, issues, comments welcome, but keep in mind, its a side project.In general, I always felt code + content should be a separate thing. I love how easy it is to get started with mkdocs-material and I hope I can provide a similar experience. Certainly, the intention is to have something that gets up and running in minutes. Something hackable. Something fun. And something that looks good out of the box.Currently its nextjs 14, I failed miserably porting it to nextjs 15 in an afternoon :) but ok, we&#x27;ll get there.I genuinely hope its not just xkcd 927 applied to docs, at least I haven&#x27;t found a drop in replacement yet. This is my presentation of the first chapter of a classic story from the Republican era of Chinese fiction, Diary of a Madman by Lu Xun. Other chapters are located in the &quot;Reading Room&quot; section of the app.This app exists because reading Mandarin is very hard for learners (like me), since Mandarin text does not separate words using spaces in the same way Western languages do. But extensive reading is the most effective way to learn vocabulary and grammar. Thus, learning Mandarin by reading requires first memorizing hundreds or thousands of words, before you can even know where one word ends and the next word begins.I&#x27;m solving this problem by allowing users to input Mandarin text, which is then computationally segmented and machine translated by my server, which also adds dictionary definitions for each word and character. The hard part is the segmentation: it turns out that &quot;Chinese Word Segmentation&quot;[0] is the central problem in Chinese Natural Language Processing; no current solutions reach 100% accuracy, whether they&#x27;re from Stanford[1], Academia Sinica[2], or Tsing Hua University[3]. Hello HNI’m working on a startup with a partner, and we’re struggling to figure out how to divide equity. We are very early stage and have not launched yet.I am a software developer (technical cofounder), and my partner is handling the business side of things (non technical cofounder). We’re both working part time on this venture because we’re both still in college.Normally, the advice is roughly 50&#x2F;50 vested over 4 years. The complication is that after next August, I will be working at a company that disallows working on side-businesses. The job I am taking in August is with an established company for 120K&#x2F;year before benefits. I’m nearly certain I will have to leave our startup because I’m not willing to risk my job (and the benefits of having a high paying job this early in life) for this venture.I’ve got a fairly significant technical background (internships, lots of experience in open source outside of school), and I’ve already built out an MVP (NextJS app) that I have not signed away IP rights to. My nontechnical cofounder has drive and motivation, but he does not have any prior sales&#x2F;marketing experience, and he does not have any industry connections we’re relying on. My non technical cofounder came up with the idea. He has also helped build a waitlist and gathered data about our target demographic. I do believe that if we had more time together, this venture would be successful.My partner suggested that I take 3% fully vested once I leave in August. I think this is a low offer given that I have written an entire working app already. My partner offered this amount after seeking advice from VC advisors that are potential future investors (even though I don’t think we will need investment because this business is 100% bootstrappable). He made a second offer for a profit sharing agreement that terminates after I have earned $2K (also a bad offer imo).I countered with 10% fully vested after August. This will be a minority stake, though, and after his initial low offers, I think I want to receive a mix of equity and guaranteed revenue sharing (not really keen on letting someone else profit off of my work without getting a kickback).Given all of this information, how would you approach this situation? Well ... first of all, React is a "library" for JavaScript. That seems to be important for some people.

Not for me, but still, there is a valid point: React already is a framework / library for JavaScript. So it's already an extra layer on top of JS.

## Getting Started

Create Next App:
